Good afternoon to our QEB families,

We have many exciting events planned for our students leading up to the holidays! Please make sure to check out the dates and times below or on our website calendar for further details! QEB Website: https://queeneb.hpedsb.on.ca/ 

We are getting excited about our Holiday Showcase at QEB. We invite those parents/guardians/grandparents that can attend, to come and watch our QEB Holiday Showcase on Wednesday, December 20 at 11:00AM in the QEB gymnasium. Due to the size of our gymnasium, at this time we need to limit guests to 2 guests per family. Unfortunately, we cannot record and share the performance due to restrictions of sharing some of our student information through social media outlets.

On December 19, 2023 at 11:00AM, QEB staff and community partners are inviting all students to celebrate the holiday season together with a festive lunch.  The lunch is at no cost to students and will include roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, carrots, corn, a bun and gravy. Fruit or an ice cream cup will be provided for dessert. White milk or water will be provided as a beverage.

Please let your child’s classroom teacher know through classroom agenda’s or your normal means of home/school communication if they have any food allergies (we will do our best to make accommodations).  

If you prefer your child not to participate in the holiday lunch we encourage them to bring their own lunch and eat and celebrate with their classmates. We are looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with our QEB student community!

Student Absences -   Detailed information about SafeArrival can be found at HPEschools.ca/Absence. Please use the toll-free number, website, or mobile app to report your student’s absence in advance. The toll-free number is 1-833-568-2535. Links to the SafeArrival website and mobile app are available at go.schoolmessenger.ca. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we introduce this new system.

  1. Every Tuesday is QEB school spirit wear day! Wear your QEB gear or our school colours (Blue & Yellow) to show your school spirit!

  2. December 18, 2023 – Primary concert with Andy Forgie (AM)

  3. December 19, 2023 – Holiday Festive Lunch

  4. December 20, 2023 - Holiday Showcase Family Performance  11:00AM

  5. December 21, 2023 – Pancake Breakfast 

  6. December 18-22, 2023 Holiday Spirit Week -  

    1. December 18 - Icicle Day (Blue/white/silver)

    3. December 20 - Ugly Holiday Sweater Day

    5. December 22 – Holiday Colours / Spirit Day (wear the colours of any holiday you celebrate)

  7. December 23, 2023 - January 7, 2024 - Holiday for students and staff. We welcome our students back to school on Monday, January 8, 2023.

  8. Pizza days are running with cheese pizza from Bourbon Street Pizza. Orders for Wednesday, January 10 & 17, 2024 can be placed through School Cash Online or paid by cash with an order form from the office.  Pizza is $2.50 per slice per week.  Orders are due by Monday, January 8, 2024 at the end of the school day.   

  9. Through our Food For Learning (FFL) program, we will be offering a hot lunch every Thursday and Toast or Cereal & Fruit every Friday for all students that would like to participate. Please see the calendar on our  QEB website for specifics regarding each hot lunch day - https://queeneb.hpedsb.on.ca/ 

  10. Kernels Popcorn is once again available for purchase Tuesdays & Thursdays at second break for $2.25.

QEB Student Teams & Clubs (currently running with staff involvement):

  1. QEB Student Council - Leadership team for intermediate students to further develop the QEB Purple School Community through student voice and involvement in fundraising and event planning for whole school participation.

  2. Rainbow Club - A club for junior/intermediate students with a focus on creating a safe space for student voice while students enjoy a variety of activities and cooperative games in the gymnasium.

  3. JEDI (Justice/Equity/Diversity/Inclusion) Club - A school-based equity club of intermediate students and staff working together to assist and inform our equity plan, considering different perspectives and setting priorities for our school and community.

  4.  Intermediate Intramural Basketball - Opportunity for students to join an in-school team and to develop their skills in basketball and sportsmanship.
